Standard International CEO, Amar Lalvani Introduces the newest Standard hotels in Asia and Ibiza slated to open in 2021 and 2022

Amar Lalvani, CEO of Standard International (parent company of the Standard Hotels), presents the case for optimism in the hospitality business amidst the ongoing challenges resulting from Covid-19, along with his company's navigation of the crisis and continued global growth.

The latest additions to the company's growing portfolio, The Standard, Hua Hin, The Standard's first resort in Thailand, will open on December 1st, 2021, followed by The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, the brand's highly anticipated Asia flagship, which will open in 2022. The Standard is also excited to announce The Standard, Ibiza, also slated to open in 2022. These three new properties will kick off a series of 10 additional landmark projects in highly coveted markets around the world, including Singapore, Melbourne, Lisbon, Dublin, Brussels and Las Vegas.

The Standard, Hua Hin, The Standard's first hotel in Thailand, will open on December 1, 2021. With 178 guest rooms and 21 pool villas with beachfront access, The Standard, Hua Hin will be a timeless destination for the Thai creative set and The Standard's global network of loyal clientele. A beloved getaway dating back to 1911, Hua Hin emerged as a destination when the construction of the railroad that connects Bangkok with the South first arrived at the pristine little beach town. By the mid-1920s, it became the chosen holiday retreat for the nobility. With time, the sleepy fishing village has transformed into a popular seaside destination without losing its old-world charm. Today, Hua Hin is a favorite weekend escape for residents of Bangkok who have been waiting for exactly what The Standard promises to offer: a stylish and vibrant beachfront resort. One that respects Hua Hin's understated Thai elegance and appreciation of the history and local setting and combines it with a global sensibility and a bit of fun.

Norwegian Prima Marks Float Out

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovator in global cruise travel with a 54-year history of breaking boundaries, announced that its game-changing new ship, Norwegian Prima was floated out from her drydock at Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera (Venice), Italy, marking a major construction milestone and the first time the new vessel touches water.

To celebrate the occasion, a commemorative coin was encased within Norwegian Prima in a traditional maritime ceremony presided over by Eamonn Ferrin, Vice President International Business, NCL and Antonio Quintano, Shipyard Director, Fincantieri.

The float out signifies the completion of external works and painting to Norwegian Prima, including the striking hull artwork designed by Italian graffiti artist Manuel Di Rita, known commonly as "Peeta." Work now continues on Norwegian Prima's interior fittings and guest accommodations, before she is officially delivered to NCL and commences sailing in summer 2022.

Furry Friends Welcome: Pet friendly Hotel

When Hugo was out walking the Ribbon Lawns amid the green spaces of Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru one sunny morning, he met Chip who was out too. The two frolicked in one of our pergolas, and, many Instagram-worthy shots later, forged a deep friendship that lasted through their stay.

Meanwhile, our repeat guest Bumblebee the Shih Tzu is one of the adored favourites of the front office team and each member of the staff says that he's utterly well behaved and humble considering his celebrity status and network.

Khushi (“joy”) and Jalebi (a syrupy Indian dessert) meanwhile, are more of the frisking types, and bring a whirlwind of energy each time they come to indulge in a staycation.

These, and many other four-legged guests have made Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru the preferred staycation hotel in the city, and the housekeeping team goes out of their way to make their stay a cosy and comfortable one.

It helps, that we are one of the few Bangalore hotels with expansive green spaces that are ideal for guests staycationing with pets.

We welcome furry friends to stay with us, provided he or she weights within 15 kilograms (33 pounds).
Pets have their own beds provided by us, with a personal bowl to make them feel welcome at once. Additionally, our four Garden Suites have adjoining private terraces, which are like private apartments and allow staycationing pets the free space to explore.

NZ's First 5 Green Star Hotel Named Runner Up In The Sustainability Category In National Geographic Traveller Magazine's Hotel Awards

The Hotel Britomart has picked up another global accolade, this time in National Geographic Traveller Magazine’s annual Hotel Awards.

The London-based magazine’s annual Hotel Awards acknowledge the latest tastemakers, trendsetters and game-changers in the hotel business around the world.

The Hotel Britomart, New Zealand’s first 5 Green Star hotel, was awarded runner-up in the Good Egg (most sustainable hotel) category. Xigera Safari Lodge in Botswana won the category, while Costa Rica’s Cielo Lodge was also a runner-up.

The Hotel Britomart’s 5 Green Star rating is certified by the New Zealand Green Building Council. This rating required detailed attention in every aspect of the building, from choice of materials and paints to the selection of efficient tapware, lighting, and state-of-the-art air conditioning systems. 80% of construction waste at the hotel was recycled, while the building is designed to have 50% fewer carbon emissions than a structure that meets the minimum standards of the local building code.

Like all the buildings in the Britomart precinct, The Hotel Britomart’s ongoing environmental performance is audited and managed using the NZ Green Building Council’s Green Star Performance Tool. The full list of Hotel Award winners is on in the magazine’s October issue.
