The Standard to Debut in Singapore This November
The Standard has announced the opening of The Standard, Singapore, on November 28, 2024. Following the success of The Standard, Hua Hin (2021) and The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon (2022), both of which received recognition from Conde Nast Traveler, this new property continues the brand’s expansion in Southeast Asia. Located on Orange Grove Road near the UNESCO-listed Botanic Gardens and the popular Orchard Road, The Standard, Singapore, integrates lush landscapes and cultural touches in line with Singapore's "City in a Garden" vision.
The design is a collaboration between Standard International’s design team and the Ministry of Design, blending Eastern and Western aesthetics to reflect Singapore's diverse culture. The hotel features 143 rooms across eight floors, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the pool and district greenery. An inviting path from The Garden on the first and second floors, filled with art installations and curated landscapes, leads to the pool area, providing guests a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy equatorial sunsets. Local artists' contributions enhance the property's homage to the nearby botanical gardens.
Dining experiences are central to The Standard, Singapore, aimed at attracting both guests and locals. Kaya, the main restaurant, offers a fresh take on the Izakaya concept, with Japanese-inspired dishes incorporating local ingredients. The menu includes nigiri, maki, and robatayaki, accompanied by a range of sake and whisky selections. Adjacent to Kaya, the Kaya Bar serves as an evening social hub, aligning with The Standard’s nightlife focus. Café Standard, on the ground floor, offers American classics with natural wines and craft beers, designed as a lively all-day neighborhood hangout.

Celebrate 50 Years of Singapore Cable Car and Hello Kitty With a Garden Party in the Skies!
From Now to December 31, 2024, Singapore Cable Car and Hello Kitty fans can enjoy a unique garden-themed celebration as part of their joint 50th anniversary. Visitors riding the Mount Faber Line cable cars will be treated to Hello Kitty-inspired cabin designs celebrating the natural beauty of Mount Faber Peak. Each of the five themed cabins is decorated with colorful flowers, butterflies, and playful accents like pinwheels and candies, featuring Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, Mimmy, and their parents for a family-friendly, interactive experience—the only one of its kind in Southeast Asia.
Mount Faber Leisure Group (MFLG) Managing Director Buhdy Bok expressed excitement about the final installment of the Golden Jubilee celebration. Aligning with Hello Kitty's birthday on November 1, this collaboration combines the Singapore Cable Car’s scenic views with Hello Kitty’s charm, promising a memorable experience at one of Singapore’s most iconic attractions.
At the entrance to Mount Faber Peak, guests will encounter a grand Hello Kitty sculpture in a gold outfit, marking the anniversary in style. Additionally, a 2-meter-tall Hello Kitty in her signature red bow and blue overalls welcomes visitors at the boarding deck, alongside vintage first- and third-generation cable car cabins featuring Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel.
Tickets are priced at S$35 for adults and S$25 for children ages 4 to 12, with an option to upgrade for S$10, granting unlimited one-day access to all themed cabins. Children under 3 ride free.
Established in 1974, the Singapore Cable Car has welcomed over 60 million visitors, providing scenic journeys between Mount Faber Peak and Sentosa. Lea Salonga's First Ever Wax Figure Takes Center Stage with Unveiling at Madame Tussauds Singapore
Broadway legend Lea Salonga set the stage ablaze as she unveiled her wax figure with Madame Tussauds Singapore, at an exclusive event in Manila, Philippines.
Lea is a multiple award-winning singer and actress recognised not only in the Philippines but the entire world. Her remarkable performance as the first-ever Asian to play Eponine in the musical Les Misérables left a lasting impression on Broadway, as did her Tony and Olivier Award winning performances as Kim in Miss Saigon, and her legendary voice work for Disney princesses Jasmine and Mulan.
Lea enthused, “I am deeply honored and thankful to receive my own wax figure. The wait is over, and I'm thrilled for you all to see it. It means so much to me to be able to join the remarkable lineup of Filipinos immortalised at Madame Tussauds.”
The unveiling event was held at the luxury entertainment destination Solaire Resort Entertainment City in Parañaque, Metro Manila, where 10 lucky fans won a chance to meet Lea and her wax twin. “We're thrilled to welcome Lea to our star-studded attraction!” shared Elaine Quek, Head of Sales and Marketing at Madame Tussauds Singapore. “Our team of expert sculptors spent up to six months making the figure, paying meticulous attention to detail to ensure that this wax figure captures her spirit and charisma.
